FAQ’s

Q: Why would I need a personal trainer?
A: That all depends on what you are looking to achieve! Qualified trainers can tailor workout routines to help you maximize the benefit they give, or simply just be there to hold you accountable to doing your own workout. Whether you are new to working out or a seasoned “gym rat” you can benefit from working with one of our personal trainers.

Q: What makes a trainer qualified?
A: This is a loaded question, but in short qualified trainers are experienced, educated and certified through a reputable fitness association. Our preferred trainer certifications are NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine). Since the fitness industry isn’t regulated, make sure you do your homework on a prospective trainer. Here at Focus Fitness we make sure that all of our trainers meet our stringent criteria to ensure the best personal training possible.

Q: How many times a week do I need to work with a trainer to get the most out of my routine?
A: That depends entirely on what you and your schedule are like. Some people that are self motivated see us once or twice a month. Others who have no time to work out on their own (or won’t!) see us up to 4 times a week.

Q: Can you get an effective weight-workout without the use of machines?
A: Absolutely! Most of the machines that are out there are patterned after a body weight exercise or free weight exercise in the first place. Plus, typical weight machines are big, bulky, and focus primarily on only one specific muscle to isolate it. The problem with isolation is that our bodies don’t move one muscle at a time so why would we work them out that way? Utilizing cable equipment, balance discs medicine balls, free weights etc., coupled with training supervision that incorporates plyometrics and isometrics will allow you to feel and see the benefits much more quickly.

Q: Can I register online and pre-pay for barre classes or other fitness classes?
A: It is best to pre-register pre-pay online...This gives you the best package deal and guarantees your spot in a class that might be full if you just drop-in.  You can register and pay online through our Class Schedule link.

Q: What are the Terms and Conditions of Personal Training session packages or prepaid fitness class packages?
A: Since our Personal Training, Buddy Training and Small Group Training packages are sold at a discounted rate, they are valid for one month from purchase date and are non-refundable for any unused portion.  A Training "Hold" is available for illness, vacation or mutually agreed upon events.  All package sessions must be prepaid and are subject to a 24-hour cancellation policy. 

Q: Do you have parking available?
A: Yes we do! We have a parking lot right out front with plenty of spaces available all day.
